NZ Woman's team for the World Petanque Championship 2015

The team to participate in the biannual Women's World Petanque Championship to be held in Bangkok in November 2015.
Players selected are:

Sharon Cannon (Napier) who is the most capped player in the squad, having been first selected to represent NZ in 2003; this selection brings her tally to 21 National selections. She has represented NZ in 12 TransTasman events, missing only one year of the last 13 years. She has also represented NZ at the Oceania Championships (2005), Pan Pacific (2005, 2012), Asian Games (2010), and in four previous Women's World Championships (2006, 2008, 2010, 2011).

Christine Strichen (Wanganui) has been in the NZ Women's team since 2010, representing NZ in the annual TransTasman Championship for the last six years. She also represented NZ at the Oceania Championship (2010), Pan Pacific Games (2012) and was a member of the last two NZ teams to compete in the Women's World Championships (2011; 2013). Christine holds the record for the highest placed NZ Women shooter, coming 12th in Turkey in 2011.

Claire Wilson (Masterton) is also a very experienced player with 14 Internationals to her credit. She has represented NZ since 2002 when she was selected for the team to play in the Oceania Championship. Since then she has been selected to represent NZ seven times at the TransTasman Championship, once in the Singapore International (2006), Oceania Championship (2002, 2010), Pan Pacific Games (2012) and the last two Women's World Championships (2011, 2013).

Michael Rocks (Wellington) the NZ National Coach for Women will travel with the team. Michael has many years of experience in coaching petanque and is excited to see what these experienced players who have formed a formidable team in recent years are able to achieve.
