CONCLUSION OF DAY ONE

An amazing opening Ceremony with Rangi Ruru Kapa Haka welcoming the teams signalled the start of the Oceania Petanque Championship 2017.

Day one showcased some amazing skills by all teams involved, which was well received by the supporting crowd with the pointing and shooting competition highlighting the high skill level.

In the Men's Singles competition Matau Teihira-Vaiho lead the way qualifying first with New Zealand’s Michael Rocks coming in third. The women's singles competition saw Vaiana Shun take top spot with New Zealand’s Sharon Cannon qualifying in the number 5 position. Top eight for each heading into the quarter finals.

Thursday will feature both the men's and women's singles finals and the shooting & pointing finals.
