Scope
This protocol
applies to all tournaments
organised by Petanque New
Zealand:
-
Peugeot
National Singles
Championship
-
Peugeot
National Doubles
Championship
-
Peugeot
National Triples
Championship
-
International
Tournaments (e.g. Oceania
Championships, Trans Tasman
Challenge)
-
Other Open or
Age Group tournaments.
Entry Fees and
Forms
Petanque NZ will
set the entry fees, either on an
individual or team basis.
The entry forms
will be printed and distributed
by Petanque NZ. Hard copy forms
will be sent to all affiliated
Clubs; forms will also be
available on the PNZ website.
Information on the entry form
will include the tournament
dates, venue, starting time,
tournament conditions, entry
closing date and registration
form.
The registration
form together with the entry fee
is returned to Petanque NZ.
Petanque NZ will inform the host
organisation of the number of
entries at least one week prior
to the tournament.
Tournament Venues
Petanque NZ will
allocate tournament venues. This
may occur either by Regional
Associations or Clubs applying
to Petanque NZ to host the
tournament, or at the invitation
of Petanque NZ.
Tournament venues
will be allocated two years in
advance, where possible. The
host venue’s Club must be
affiliated to Petanque NZ.
Venue Facilities

Terrain
The terrain
is to be marked out (strung)
in accordance with FIPJP
specifications (see
diagram). The terrain should
be large enough to mark out
24 individual playing areas
(pistes). These are
preferably to be 15m x 4m,
but may be down to 12m x
3m. All pistes are to be of
the same dimensions, and are
to be marked (strung).

Facilities
The following
facilities are required:
-
Separate
male and female toilets
-
Either
permanent or temporary
shelter (e.g. a marquee)
should be available in
case of inclement
weather.

Tables
for registration and
result sheets.
-
Power and
water
-
Seating
-
Lighting
(either permanent or
portable) of a standard
acceptable to Petanque
NZ.
-
Scoreboards (for the
quarterfinals, semi
finals and finals).
-
Sound
System (fixed or
portable, e.g.
loudhailer).
-
Food and
refreshments should be
available for purchase
at the venue or in close
proximity.
Personel
The host
organisation is to supply people
to supervise/run the
Registration Desk and Results
table for the duration of the
tournament (note that a PNZ
honorarium is available for
this, currently $25 per person
per day).
Trophies
All championship
trophies will be selected and
paid for by Petanque NZ.
The host organisation may
provide additional prizes but
these must not be of a monetary
nature.
Sponsorship
From time to time
Petanque NZ will have agreements
with sponsors. The host
organisation will be required to
feature the sponsor's name in
any tournament publicity or
promotion, and to display any
promotional material supplied by
the sponsors.
The host
organisation, in consultation
with Petanque NZ, may pursue
secondary sponsorship for the
tournament, provided that such
sponsorship does not conflict
with that of the national
sponsors.
Prize giving
The host
organisation shall make
available a suitable venue and
equipment for a presentation
ceremony at the conclusion of
the tournament, to enable the
trophies/prizes to be presented.
Tournament
Rules
All Petanque NZ
tournaments will be played to
the FIPJP Rules as adopted by
Petanque NZ. A copy of the
current rules will be provided
to the Tournament Co-ordinator
and must be available to players
during the tournament.
Umpire
Petanque NZ shall
approve any Umpire appointed to
adjudicate at a tournament. In
the first instance PNZ will
appoint a non-playing Umpire.
However if a non-playing Umpire
cannot be provided, a suitable
number of playing Umpires will
be appointed.
Tournament
Organisers
The host
organisation shall appoint a
Tournament Coordinator who will
liaise with the PNZ National
Tournament Coordinator. The host
organisation must advise PNZ of
the name and contact details of
their Tournament Coordinator at
least 1 month in advance.
For each day’s
play, a Tournament Organiser
(preferably non-playing) must be
available and clearly identified
for players and spectators to
consult on any matters arising
in connection with organisation
of the tournament or associated
events.
PNZ National
Tournament Co-ordinator
Petanque NZ will
appoint a 'PNZ National
Tournament Coordinator'. This
person will assist the
Tournament Coordinator with the
running of the tournament and
where required give advice or
make decisions on behalf of
Petanque NZ.
Tournament Format
and Seeding
The PNZ National
Tournament Coordinator will
provide the host organisation
with the tournament format and
all necessary documentation.
Changes to the tournament format
can only be made by the PNZ
National Tournament Coordinator.
Tournament
Reports and Results
A Tournament
Debriefing Report, focussing on
administrative and
organisational matters, is to be
completed by the Tournament
Coordinator of the host
organisation and the PNZ
National Tournament Coordinator,
and forwarded to the Petanque NZ
Secretary within one week of the
completion of the tournament.
A descriptive
report
(including results)
for publication in the Petanque
NZ magazine and/or website is to
be forwarded to the Petanque NZ
Secretary within one week of the
completion of the tournament. If
possible, photographs are to be
included with the report.
All results
sheets are to be kept and given
to the PNZ National Tournament
Coordinator.
