Summary of
NZPA Committee Meeting, 27 June
1998
Seeding all NZPA Tournaments
A
motion was moved that provided
the NZPA can find an equitable
system, that we start measures
to seed all future NZPA
Championships and Competitions.
NZPA Membership
The
meeting accepted the concept of
an all embracing Club
Membership, inclusive of NZPA
Membership whereby the NZPA
Licence is issued by the Club
Secretary. The concept to be
discussed with the Auckland and
Wellington regional
associations.
Boules Gazette
The
'Boules Gazette' is produced by
an editorial team comprising
Michael Emerson (Editor), Mick
Sharpe and Cam Calder. Regions
are asked to submit a round up
of whiat is happening in their
regions and clubs their
competition fixtures.
Hillary Commission
A
funding application has been
made to the Hillary Commission
for coaching, increasing
membership and junior
development. Cam outlined the
progress being made to include
petanque in 'Kiwi Sport'.
Note:
We
have received confirmation from
the Hillary Commission that a
grant of $3,000 has been
approved for the NZPA.
FIPJP Meeting September 1998
The
Committee felt that it could not
support a member of the NZPA on
the FIPJP Executive Committee.
However it did feel that the
NZPA should be represented at
the September meeting of member
countries (held in conjunction
with the World Championships).
Therefore it was moved that the
Delegate to this meeting should
receive $750 for assistance with
travel expenses. It was also
moved that Cam Calder be
appointed as the NZPA Delegate
to this meeting.
Local Travel Costs
With the NZPA Committee becoming
a more representative body,
assistance with travelling costs
to meetings needs to be
considered. However it was felt
that the NZPA could not afford
to do this at the present time.
The meeting decided that this
item should deferred to the next
meeting for further discussion.
Strategic Plan
One
of the Hiltary Commission’s
requirements for providing
funding is that an organisation
must have a Strategic Plan. The
meeting decided to hold a
meeting on August 22nd dedicated
entirely to the Strategic
Planning Process. A facilitator
from Sport North Harbour will
assist with this process.
National Doubles Championship
The
Putururu Petanque Club has asked
the NZPA to be considered as a
host club for an NZPA
Championship. This led to a
discussion on the merits of
introducing a National Doubles
Championship. The result is that
the Putururu Petanque Club is to
be offered the inaugural event
to be held in November 1998.
Clubs will be notified regarding
confirmation of the event and
dates.
Regional Representatives
Because the NZPA Committee is
becoming more representative the
meeting moved that Regional
Representatives are no longer
required and that they be
replaced with Liaison Persons
appointed by either Region or
Club where no Region has been
formed. Regions and Clubs are to
be contacted and invited to
submit the name of their
nominated person.
