PNZ Executive Meeting
28 July 2006
Changes in Administration
The position of Chief Executive
is to be advertised in August.
In the interim Michael Rocks
will continue as Acting CEO.
Senior representation at
International tournaments
PNZ to confirm with Petanque
Australia what the status of
senior participation in the
Trans Tasman challenge will be
for 2007 onwards. If agreement
is made that the senior
competition is to be through a
selected process (competitive)
rather than it being a social
event, then seniors will be
eligible for the same allocation
of funding as the open team,
from any grant applications made
by PNZ

No applications have been
received to date
Player/Official Contracts
SPARC, in conjunction with
Simpson Grierson lawyers, has
developed templates for players
and officials contracts. PNZ
will contact clubs seeking
voluntary legal expertise, with
a playing knowledge of petanque,
to assist in tailoring the SPARC
templates to PNZ’s needs.
2006 Oceania Petanque
Championships
The 2006 Oceania Petanque
Championships will be held in
Sydney, New South Wales at the
Hubertus Country Club. The
proposed dates are 30 October to
3 November. Details on the
tournament format and team
composition will be advised when
the formal invitation is
received from Australia. The
Championship will be preceded by
the inaugural NSW Open to be
held at the same venue on 28 &
29 October.
2006 Asian Petanque
Championships
The Asian Petanque Championships
are in Hanoi, Vietnam and PNZ
has received an invitation as we
are now affiliated. The original
dates were from 18 to 22
October. However, an email from
the Asian Federation to PNZ has
indicated that there may be a
delay due to a clash with the
APEC conference. It is unclear
if this delay means days or
longer.
(Note: The new dates for the
2006 Asian Petanque
Championships are the 25 to 31
October)
Changes to playing rules by
FIPJP
Ratification of the changes to
playing rules will be made at
the FIPJP Congress meeting in
September. PNZ will notify all
members of these changes once
ratification is confirmed.
Selection feedback survey
A summary of the feedback will
be posted on the web site and
sent to each club.
PNZ Executive will meet in
November to review the current
selection policy and process and
will take into account:
-

Other models for selection
taken from other minority
sports in New Zealand that
also compete on the
international circuit
-
Feedback on the 2006 policy
and process from the
