PNZ Executive Meeting
16 November 2005
2006 Trans Tasman Challenge
This will be held on the second
weekend in May (practice Friday
12, play Saturday 13 & Sunday
14)
2006 Oceania Championships
We don't know whether this event
will go ahead. Australia was
apparently reluctant to take it
on because of cost, but we are
not sure what has happened with
the change of leadership there.
The matter is out of our hands;
so we'll just wait and see what
happens.
Asian Petanque Federation
Petanque NZ is going to
affiliate to this organisation,
as we believe that it is in the
interests of petanque in New
Zealand to strengthen our ties
with the Asian region.
Internet access - survey of
members
We are going to try to find out
what proportion of our members
have access to email and the
internet, and at what level. If
only 25% - 30% use computers,
this affects the way we
communicate.
New Clubs
Three new petanque clubs have
recently been formed (West End
in Auckland, Whakatane and
Bayfair in Mt Maunganui) and two
existing ones (Papanui, Nelson)
are affiliating to PNZ.
Oceania dispute
An apology has been received
from the players involved in
this dispute and the matter is
now closed.
Executive Vacancy
With the resignation of Trevor
Nielson, Petanque New Zealand is
called for expressions of
interest in the position of
Deputy Chief Executive. The
appointment needs to be made by
the 2006 AGM at the latest, but
may be sooner depending on the
wishes and availability of the
successful candidate.
If you would like to be involved
in PNZ organisation and
administration in this role
please contact the Secretary.
Sub Committees
We are also looking for people
to contribute in a less formal
way in particular areas such as
senior and junior petanque
development, umpiring, coaching,
fundraising and publicity. If
you have a particular interest
or expertise in any of these
areas, or any others, please
contact the PNZ Secretary or
your Regional Delegate.
